We had a few hours in the morning before our train left so we zipped, in the heavy snow, over to the Schönbrunn Tiergarten. The zoo was founded as early as 1752 as a royal menagerie by Emperor Franz I, and is stated as the oldest zoo in the world. It is home to some 750 wild and domestic animals. Including these wild animals.

The lions, one was sitting on the opening in the 'cave' walkway around the enclosure (so yes, that's her bottom) and the male was poking his head out seeming to weigh whether or not to venture out.
The baby elephant who's name starts with a 'M' but that's all I can remember now. It was nice and warm in their enclosure but it smelled. We dashed around to a few more things (saw the Penguins who were having a great time, naturally) and then headed back to get our stuff and catch the train. Vienna is a beautiful city.
